Hi
The rules state that when i am jailed, i still can be shot at and i can play a missed card or drink a beer if the shot is fatal.
but, I would like to know if cards such as Cat Balou, Panic, Duel , Indians, Gatling can be played on me when I am in jail?
Rules not clear on this one.

To be in Jail simply means you skip your turn, but during other players' turn you are a legal target for every card in the game
jail

But the instruction manual only mentioned abt BANG, MISSED and BEER.
Furthermore, it doesn't make sense that when you are in jail , you still can be DUELED, attacked by INDIANS or hit by GATLING

The only thing which doesn't affect you in jail is Indians.

If everybody feels more comfortable we could think this way:
A character is in prison during his turn, so he cannot do anything.
When his (non-existent) turn end, he gets out of prison and becomes a normal player.

It's just the way we've always played it. I'll try to find out the source for this, as one of our group must have found it somewhere.
It works suprisingly well.

We played it like that as well, out of common sense, but since the rules don't say anything, we stopped doing it that way.

The rules don't cover this point. When you are in jail, you still being a normal target for all the cards in play. The only thing that changes is the fact that you skipped your turn, and you must wait to the next round.

In the 4th version of the game it says:
- if you draw a Heart card, you escape from jail: discard the
Jail, and continue your turn as normal;
- otherwise discard the Jail and skip your turn.
It doesn't mention the "skips phase 1 and 2 of his turn, simply discarding exceeding cards" part. Does this mean that according to the new rules you can keep any exceeding cards?

Yes, you can. Jail rule has been changed with 3rd edition.
