These rules are similar to the 2-player "Cover/Exposed" variant, but here, each player plays two characters simultaneously. This works as free-for-all shootouts of 2-4 players (5 and up in just a shootout gets too long) and with the player roles (both Sheriff characters gain an extra life point).

At the start of the game, each player is dealt 4 character cards and chooses two. These characters are a distance of 1 from each other and from the character on their right and left respectively. So, with 2 players, there are 4 characters; 3 players, 6 characters; etc.
The total life between the two characters is that player's starting and subsequent maximum hand size.
Character abilities are used only when that character is actively targeted by a card play, i.e. drawing in phase 1, target of a Bang, target of/for a Duel.
The rule for Beer: when the game is down to 2 players, and both players have 2 characters, no Beer may be played. When there are 2 players, one player having 2 characters and the other having 1 character, the player with 1 character is allowed to play Beer. When both players are down to 1 character, no Beer may be played.
Dynamite is handed off to each character in play. If Dynamite is on a player's right-hand character, and does not explode, it passes on to that player's left-hand character, following this same pattern.
When one of a player's characters is killed, all cards played in front of that player are discarded, and the player continues observing the normal rules (with the exception of the Beer rule above). If Vulture Sam is in play, he receives only the cards in play in front of the dead character; he receives cards in hand only when a player's last character is eliminated.

A player's turn proceeds as follows: in phase 1, the player first draws for the character on their right, taking care of any Dynamite/Jail in front of them, then secondly draws for the character on their left, again taking care of any Dynamite/Jail. During that player's turn, he may play cards in front of either character, which are only in play for that character (i.e. a Barrel in front of a player's left-hand character may not be used by that player's right-hand character and vice versa). Each character a player has may play one BANG! card targeting another character in range (including each other); the player must announce which of their characters is initiating the BANG! and whom they are targeting. Beyond that, a player may play as many cards as he wishes. Each of a player's characters may have a card of the same name in front of each, like a Barrel or Mustang, but no more than one each as per normal game rules.

Here is the format described by example:

Player 1 is Jose Delgado (on his Right) and El Gringo (on his Left).
Player 2 is Tequila Joe (R) and Bart Cassidy (L).
Player 3 is Suzy Lafayette (R) and Pixie Pete (L).

Table lineup:

<- Bart - Joe - Gringo - Jose - Pete - Suzy <-
2 2 1 1 3 3

To start the game, P1 draws 7 cards, P2 draws 8, and P3 draws 7.

P1 goes first.
P1's turn (7 cards in hand):
draws 2 for Jose, and 2 for El Gringo.
plays a Dynamite in front of El Gringo.
plays a Jail in front of Tequila Joe.
discards a Schofield using Jose's ability and draws 2 cards.
plays a Duel with Jose Delgado on Pixie Pete; P3 plays a BANG!, P1 plays a BANG!, Pete is hit (2 life).
plays a BANG! with El Gringo on Tequila Joe; P2 plays a Missed!
plays a BANG! with Jose Delgado on Pixie Pete; Pete is hit (1 life).
plays an Iron Plate in front of Jose Delgado.
ends his turn (5 cards in hand).

P2's turn (7 cards in hand):
draws for Jail in front of Tequila Joe; not a Heart, so Joe loses his turn: P2 does not draw 2 nor cannot play cards on or with Joe.
draws 2 for Bart Cassidy.
plays a Howitzer in front of Bart.
plays a General Store, laying out 3 cards (1 per player, not per character).
plays Indians!; P1 discards 2 BANG!s, P3 discards 1 BANG! and Suzy Lafayette is hit (3 life).
plays a Barrel in front of Bart.
plays a BANG! with Bart on Suzy; P3 plays a Missed!
ends his turn (5 cards in hand).

P3's turn (4 cards in hand):
draws 2 for Suzy, and 3 for Pete.
plays a Remington in front of Suzy.
plays a Beer on Pete.
plays a Dodge to draw a card.
discards 2 cards and ends his turn (5 cards in hand).

P1's turn (3 cards in hand):
draws 2 for Jose Delgado.
draws for Dynamite in front of El Gringo; doesn't explode, Dynamite passes on to Tequila Joe; draws 2 for El Gringo.
...
ends his turn.

P2's turn:
draws for Dynamite in front of Tequila Joe; doesn't explode, Dynamite passes on to Bart Cassidy; draws 2 for Joe.
draws for Dynamite in front of Bart; doesn't explode, Dynamite passes on to Suzy Lafayette; draws 2 for Bart.
...
etc.
