Is it mandatory to use the barrel when someone shoots you?

For example, if you are an outlaw, and you want to let another outlaw kill you to get the 3-card reward, can you choose not to use your barrel and let the outlaw kill you?

When you draw for a Jail card, do you first discard the card you draw, or do you first discard the Jail card?

In other words, which card goes on top of the discard pile?

This is only important if Pedro Ramirez is playing.

Suppose everyone alive only has one life point left, then the Renegade uses Indians or Gatling that actually kills everyone including the Sheriff, does the Renegade win, or do the Outlaws win?

I think the Renegade should win if he is able to do this.

If Suzy has only one card left, and plays a Bang! card against Jourdonnais, does Suzy pick up a card first, or does Jourdonnais pick up a card first for his Barrel effect?

Same question for when Suzy shoots someone with a Barrel in play.
